Item 1 (Big Picture strand) – “Forestry and Acid sensitive watercourses”
Soil erosion is a ceaseless natural phenomenon that can reap havoc for vulnerable fishstocks. When peat washes into salmonoid rivers, the water becomes acidic and Salmon are adversely affected. In this item, we take a look at how we are coping with this problem and how we hope to protect our salmon population into the future.

Item 2 (Community lifestyle strand) – “Ireland’s Litter predicament”
What are the implications of litter in Ireland? How dirty are we? Why do people in Ireland litter? We speak to a sociologist who specialises in the field of littering in Ireland. We’ll also take a look at the catastrophic effects of litter on small animals.

Item 3 (Heritage protection and Natural Environment strand) – “Walking Tours”
Ireland’s green landscape is a great amenity for walking tours. There are new schemes to help local farmers open up their land to the public as walking amenity land. We’ll look at these schemes and discuss the environmental aspects of these walks and how best to maintain them.
We would like to focus specifically on the new walking loops, which are being developed around the countryside.
