With the massive economic growth of the Celtic Tiger local communities in Ireland were exposed to new pressures like rising fuel prices, an over-reliance on food imports & job losses in indigenous industries. This Eco Eye episode investigates what’s being done to counteract these difficulties, such as the resurgence in farmers markets, indigenous food production and local approaches to waste & water issue. Eco Eye visits Austria to see how successful sustainable cities there could be a model for communities here at home.
