Item 1: Cars, Emissions & the Future

There are now an unbelievable 1.9 million cars in the Republic, nearly one for every two people! Eco Eye investigates the environmental impact of this many fossil fueled vehicles. Eco Eye also asks if the ‘gas guzzlers’ synonymous with the ‘Boom’ years are to become a thing of the past in favour of more eco friendly A Band vehicles.

Item 2: Eco Tourism: Lough Key Forest Park & Arigna Mines

Tania visits Lough Quay forest park to take a nature trail with a group of schoolchildren to experience the different species of tree & biodiversity on view. This item also features a visit to the Arigna Mines where wind energy is taking the place of the old coalmines, now open to the public as a heritage experience.

Item 3: Food Waste

With Irish people wasting a massive 1/3 of their food, Eco Eye looks at where this waste is occurring. With new EU regulations stating we can no longer simply dump this waste in landfill Eco Eye asks how can we divert these huge volumes of squandered food into a useful and practical resource.
